How to Send L with Sound, Tapping, or Light

The medium can change, but the pattern stays the same: short, long, short, short.

Sound

Play one short beep, one beep three times as long, then two short beeps. The result should sound like di-dah-di-dit.

Tapping

Tap once, hold the second tap for the dash, then tap twice quickly. Keep the gaps between signals shorter than the pause after the letter.

Light

Flash briefly, hold for a longer flash, then flash twice briefly. Give the dash its full length.

A dot is one unit. A dash is three units. Each gap inside L is one unit. Learn the complete timing and spacing rules in the Learn Morse guide.
